Message from Ms. Saratovsky
Good Morning PS 770 Families-
I hope you all had a nice break! Mine was great. I traveled to my alma mater, Muhlenberg College in Allentown, PA, stopped in Amish Country in Lancaster, PA, spent a day in Baltimore, Maryland, and then 4 days in our nation's capitol of Washington D.C. I went to see the MLK monument for the first time--and what an experience. Looking up at the statue--it was so lifelike--and so moving. Every quote of his and in the FDR memorial are so true today! The highlight was definitely all the food we ate--we eat at restaurants that are featured on the Food Network!
Of course, when I got home on Sunday, I came down with strep so I was out yesterday, but now I am back and so glad to see all of your children's smiling faces. We are in the home stretch of the school year and how fast it went.
Some upcoming news and reminders:
Wednesday, 4/11 and Thursday, 4/12 are the NYS ELA Exams for our 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders.
--no parents allowed in the building from 8:15 AM-2:45 PM. If your child needs to be picked up early, they will meet you at the security desk.
--any 3rd, 4th, or 5th grader who arrives after 8:50 AM will not be permitted to test and will have to wait for a make up day.
--all cell phones from 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders will be collected by me when they arrive and returned at dismissal. This is a state policy that I must follow. I recommend phones stay home for the next 2 days.
If you are sending someone to pick up your child who is not on the blue card, you must provide us with written permission by letter or email to Ms. Miller. Otherwise, we will not allow your child to leave with this person.
Curriculum Celebration is on April 27th at 1:30 PM. Sign in will begin at 1:00 PM. Parents will be allowed up to classrooms at 1:25 PM.
This Saturday, 4/14, come help plant our milk carton garden on the 3rd floor terrace with the PTA, Con Edison, and Trailblazers. 11:00 AM start time.
There is Saturday Academy 4/14 and 4/28 (last one). 8:30-10:30. Math focus.
Wednesday and Thursday after school for 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders will continue until 4/26. 4/26 will be the last session of academic after school.
Thank you to the families who returned their "intent to return"form. If you have not done so, please do so ASAP. It helps us anticipate spots for incoming families and implications for hiring.
Please make sure you return your field day t-shirt forms.
Have a great day!
According to Chancellor's Regulations, Children benefit from vigorous exercise and should be given the opportunity to play outside whenever possible. Unless it is snowing, or there is ice on the playground, or the wind-chill factor is below zero degrees Fahrenheit (-18 degrees Celsius), temperature alone should not preclude outdoor play. Please ensure that your child comes dressed appropriately with hats and gloves. ONLY students will approved doctor notes will not go out. I will look at the temperature around 12:00 PM to make the decision each day.
